View Full Version : How to set up FoF for the GEFL
GEFL City Files (http://www.goldenerafootball.com/zippedfiles/GEFLCityFiles.zip)
GEFL in game logo files (http://www.goldenerafootball.com/zippedfiles/2k7GEFL-Logos.zip)
GEFL Stat Files Files (http://www.goldenerafootball.com/zippedfiles/GEFLstatfiles.zip)
This step-by-step guide should simplify how to set up FOF in GEFL mode without overwriting anything in your current FOF league set-up.
If you have any questions, feel free to PM me or post in here:
1. Create a backup of your universe file by creating a new folder (Ex: C:\Users\<your-user-name>\AppData\Roaming\Solecismic Software\Front Office Football 2007\Default)
2. Copy current contents of your universe file and paste in the "Default" folder (Do NOT cut and paste; DO copy and paste)
3. Create a GEFL Folder within your main game directory (Example: C:\Users\<your-user-name>\AppData\Roaming\Solecismic Software\Front Office Football 2007)
4. Download the city files from GEFL City Files (http://www.goldenerafootball.com/zippedfiles/GEFLCityFiles.zip)
7. Unzip the logos to your GEFL folder
8. Download the league start-up file from http://www.goldenerafootball.com/zippedfiles/gefl0001startup.zip (http://www.goldenerafootball.com/zippedfiles/gefl0001startup.zip)
9. Unzip the game file into your leagues folder within the main game directory (Example: C:\Users\<your-user-name>\AppData\Roaming\Solecismic Software\Front Office Football 2007\leagues)
10. Download the league stat-files from GEFL Stat Files Files (http://www.goldenerafootball.com/zippedfiles/GEFLStatFiles.zip)
11. Unzip these stat-files into your leagues folder within the main game directory (Example: C:\Users\<your-user-name>\AppData\Roaming\Solecismic Software\Front Office Football 2007\leagues)
12. Open up Notepad or Wordpad and copy the following text into it:
copy GEFL\frfoot.fni universe\
copy GEFL\frfoot.fcy universe\
copy GEFL\*.bmp pictures\
start frfoot2007.exe
13. Save this file as GEFL.bat within your main game directory (Example: C:\Users\<your-user-name>\AppData\Roaming\Solecismic Software\Front Office Football 2007)
14. Right-click your newly created .bat file and click "Copy Shortcut" and send to desktop*
15. Step 11 should create a new icon on your desktop. You can rename this icon GEFL if you should so wish.
16. Open up Notepad or Wordpad and copy the following text into it:
copy Default\frfoot.fni universe\
copy Default\frfoot.fcy universe\
copy Default\*.bmp pictures\
start frfoot2007.exe
17. Save this file as Default.bat within your main game directory (Example: C:\Users\<your-user-name>\AppData\Roaming\Solecismic Software\Front Office Football 2007)
18. Right-click your newly created .bat file and click "Copy Shortcut" and send to desktop
19. Step 16 should create a new icon on your desktop. You can rename this icon "Default" if you should so wish.
20. Double click on the GEFL icon to open the game
21. Verify that you have latest patch installed. (6.4 as of October 27, 2010)
22. Click on the multiplayer icon in the upper right hand corner of the game screen (face-looking icon, 3rd from right)
23. Click on "Enter New Career"
24. For the League ID number, enter 'GEFL0001'
25. Choose the team assigned to you by the league
26. Click Begin without draft
27. Click Load Game and Select the League ID-Team Name game which you just created
28. Enter the 8-digit password sent by the league commish and click ok
29. Enjoy!
If you have Microsoft Vista, you must make sure that you run the batch files as administrator. If you have Windows XP or any other previous version of Windows you need not worry about this.</your-user-name></your-user-name></your-user-name></your-user-name></your-user-name></your-user-name>

It tells me unable to load saved game file. Saved game is missing. Any ideas?
I think that after all those steps, you need the lastest league file which is here in this thread : http://www.goldenerafootball.com/forums/showthread.php?t=163 , then go get it http://www.goldenerafootball.com/zip...1109-PDFA2.zip (http://www.goldenerafootball.com/forums/../zippedfiles/031109-PDFA2.zip)

I'm getting an "Unable to load past season data file. Game save file is missing"
it pops up 2x every time I go into or out of a player card.
Makes it really frustrating to try and get a file ready. ANd as I posted in another thread, it appears my file yesterday was never used today, would love to know why as I've lost players all over the place that may well have stayed had my offers been available.
Last years file is missing from the zip, I can get that fixed shortly....
Like I posted in the other file, your file was an invalid stage file.
Ok, try this file:
http://www.goldenerafootball.com/zippedfiles/GEFLSeasonFiles.zip
Let me know if that fixes your issue.

THat worked, thanks Yoda.
Was my file invalid because of the missing save files? I had downloaded that group already but as you say last year wasn't in it yet.
Going to be a far harder rebuilding effort than I originally thought it seems after missing that stage. =(
Awesome!
No, it would have been invalid because you didn't have the current stage loaded when you made the export.

Ive tried extracting the city files to the /league folder, the main directory, and the universe folder with no luck. Im starting to think maybe this wasnt meant to be. I tried completly uninstalling and re-installing fof. Now I cant even get it to start. Could i have slightly modified instructions for setup w/o a batch and ill start from scratch again? I feel like an idiot, Ive never had trouble loading leagues before, and Ive been in several. Sorry!

I'm stuck at step 27. Keep getting that infamous message, "Unable to load game data file. Saved game is missing."
My current issue is that I am missing the stat file for 1991. I was able to get the 1992 one from the end of season file. However, the link above is missing both 1991 and 1992. I believe that's what is giving the "unable to load game data" error.
Can anyone help with the 1991 stat file? If that's not causing the error, can anyone help me and Steel out?
Thanks.

I just went through my old files i do not have it we will have to wait for Yoda. I just sent him a PM about it.
Try these:
Season Files 1980-1992
Let me know if these will work for you.

I just cleared the files and started from scratch--FAIL.
Where are you getting to and what error are you getting?
If we can't get it to work by later tonight, what I will do is just set up your team on my laptop zip up all the files and set them up for you to download.

I believe I figured out the solution.
Yoda should be posting something soonish.
Ok, download all the season files and this:

That should fix your issue.

Everything is working for me now.
Here is what I suggest you do. Go under your leagues folder in FOF. Find all the files that start with GEFL0001.xxx (xxx can be different extensions) and delete them. Then start the process over from the beginning.
Also, once complete, make sure you have all the stat files in your leagues directory. I kept getting the error above until I had the 1991 stat file, which I was missing. The stat files are GEFL0001.xxx (where xxx = the year for the stat file). You should have a file for each of 1980 all the way
to 1992.
Actually, the first thing you should do is just check that you have all the stat files in your leagues directory. If not, that's probably the source of your problem.

Hey, I'm trying to help Stokes(Saints new owner) get all the files for this league, STILL. He can't seem to catch up with Yoda. Are all these updated here from the past season, and it should be as simple as extracting them and putting them into the 'league' folder for FOF? I had major issues last season when I joined.

main things you have to do in each league
1)download season stat files/ startup
http://www.goldenerafootball.com/zippedfiles/gefl0001startup.zip
http://www.goldenerafootball.com/zippedfiles/gefl0001.zip
2)download the previous super bowl right before end of season
http://www.goldenerafootball.com/zippedfiles/091030-Bowl.zip
3)download the current file-
http://www.goldenerafootball.com/zippedfiles/currentfile.zip
I just had to reorder my leagues at home and that worked in pretty much all of them.
I am guessing you set him up with the batch file already
Steel

Ok, thanks. I have to re-do the batch files for this league myself. Guess that will be my project after I submit my Training Camp file. Woot!

Make a folder in universe and dump all the logos in there.
Open notebook and copy and paste
copy universe\GEFL\frfoot.fni universe\
copy universe\GEFL\frfoot.fcy universe\
copy universe\GEFL\citydata.fdt
copy universe\GEFL\*.bmp pictures\
start frfoot2007.exe
Save as GEFL.bat in your 2007 FOF directory

Well...
I FINALLY got the league stuff set up. But I don't have the batch files. When I put the PW in, I put it in for the Rams, since that's 'technically' my team, according to the game.
But when I click any of the players it gives me that unable to load season data message. But when I click 'ok', I can do whatever normally you can do with a player. Can offer a contract, look at the stats, etc, etc. Only when I click to look at a player, do I see the message.
I REALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLY hope that it doesn't affect my export :(....I will be highly upset if it screws it up. I might even cry, to be honest :'(
That just means you are lacking an EOS file. When I get a chance, I'll sit down and make sure all the zip files here are up to date.
bighouserulez
11-24-2009, 03:52 PM
Really the older stat files and team names being wrong does not hurt your export. No need to cr:py
Blah, here I was trying up date the files and deleted 1/2 of the original post.
Logo, City, Stat files updated.

All the files worked this time for me. Thanks Yoda.
Though I couldn't get the batch files to work until I moved them into the game folder in Program Files rather than the FoF folder in AppData/Roaming.
I moved the GEFL and Default batch files and folders into the FoF game folder in Program Files.
Everything seems to be working now apart from an error message I get about the Saved game being missing but I think that's mentioned earlier in the thread so hopefully i can get to the bottom of that. :)

Trying to get my .bat files correct. I uninstalled the game and re installed it with the current files. The installation puts my FrFoot2007.exe file in c:\Program Files (x86)/soleseismic/Front Office Football
All of the rest of the files are in the AppData location where they should be.
Here is the .bat File:

copy GEFL\frfoot.fcy universe\
copy GEFL\*.bmp pictures\
