Reporter: After going 1-3 in preseason you've just suffered a tough loss at home to the Broncos in the season opener. What's your reaction to that and do you feel you have a good idea where the team is at now the season is underway.
DH: Well we don't put much store by preseason results. Obviously wins are nice and they breed confidence but it's more about giving people reps and seeing what your rookies and some of the guys who don't usually see much playing time can do. So we don't put much store by that.
The game against the Broncos was a tough loss like you said. Any loss at home or against a divisional opponent is a tough loss. Having said that the Broncos are a champion team and I think they showed that Sunday, though we did contribute to our own demise and obviously losing Jamal had a big impact on how we played the game as did giving up a bunch of points early. We were behind the eight ball early and had to chase the game.
We gave up ten points on fumbles. Seven on a big pass play and another seven on special teams. So that's twenty four points that we feel we could and should have stopped. Overall we're relatively happy how our defense performed. We shut them out the entire second half and the only long drive they had led to a field goal. Apart from the big pass play we performed well on that side of the ball. It's hard to defend a short field after giving up turnovers on offense.
We've got another tough game coming up against the Rams and we'll be without Jamal. We're going to have to change the way we play a little bit and we're also going to have to see how our quarterbacks do in training this week. But whoever is back there we feel we can win the game if we address the miscues we had in week one.
