Vikings Head Coach Ricardo Lane who's Vikings stand at 3-1 in the North spoke to the press on Friday before the facing the Buccs the team they squeezed past in last years Divisional Playoff game. "3-1 is a solid start but after winning our first 3 games on the road we expected to beat the Packers but it was not to be, maybe there was some complacency there, maybe they just had a better game plan than us, who knows. I do know one thing though it was a wake up call for us as that defeat has been coming as we have not been playing well so far this season. 3-0 was a great start but maybe it flatters us a bit. I think our problems lays in the fact that we have two awesome Receivers in Freeman and Glenn but we just don’t seem to be able to keep them healthy and get them on the turf at the same time. I think in the last 20 regular season’s games we’ve had the pair of them on the turf together about 6 times, you have to expect injuries and so we need to game plan better when a key player is out. We have to use the run game better and maybe be a bit more clever in mixing up who we throw to, we're going to try that this week and see how it goes.
So what about the Bears there 3-1 and once again it looks like they may be your challengers for the Division. “Same as last year isn’t it both teams started pretty well, the Bears then went out in front on us before week 8 and then we got it done and they did not, let’s hope it’s like that again this year although I feel the Bears feel hurt about last year and will be a lot more consistent as we’re seeing already. It’s up to us to match them and then hopefully beat them when we play. I think we play the Bears in Week 8 and who ever wins that one I feel will have a big edge in the second part of the season. The second game is in our house Week 17, that could be huge and yes before you ask we expect to beat them but it’s a rivalry game and anything can happen.”
Those Packers beat you bad last week what’s your feeling on them? “ Yeah they did beat us bad, they have the makings of a good team but maybe there a season or so away from really being able to challenge for the Division but there certainly already acting as a spoiler and there is obviously some good game planning going on over there so they have to be in the mix for the Division, they lost by just three to the Bears on opening day and if they had won that they would be top of the Division so they really have to be respected.
The Lions, what do you make of them. “Are they in our Division!”
Ok enough of the funny stuff Coach so what’s the plan for the Buccs? “ Well I’m not going to tell you that am I but one thing is for sure we’re more focused and we have changed some things around, my GM knows there GM pretty well and I don’t want to be losing to them as Kailan will be barking at me for weeks as that Buccs GM will be on his case big time if we lose.
