1.1 Michael Vick 29/57 41/65 +12/+8 WHEW !
It was a toss-up between Vick and Brees. Didn't like Brees' very low Sense Rush; needed a QB to play asap, so liked Vick's 46% developed over Brees' 19%
2.1 OLB Levar Woods 44/62 48/59 +4/-3
Switched him from WLB to SLB. Kind of regret this pick a little bit; probably could have scored a better player, but LB was a huge need. He would have been my best LB, though, if not for a wacky boom for 6th year Reggie Brown (see below)?! Should creep past Brown by the end of pre-season.
3.1 TE Johnny Huggins 34/67 36/60 +2/-7
Ouch! He won't turn out like I hoped. Feeling tinges of regret from picking Woods in rd 2, and Huggins had glaring "blues" in speed, agility, and position drill; seemed like a bpa; wouldn't mind using a lot of 2 TE sets to try and protect Vick; Huggins projects decent blocking and strong receiving skills.
4.1 OLB Eric Westmoreland 24/55 28/51 +4/-4
This was a rushed pick (I was traveling); LB was area of need; he's a good run-stopping LB; picked him solely on run stopping potential.
5.1 OLB Matt Stewart 20/41 23/41 +3/0
(my queue had a lot of LB's in it) Has some potential in pass coverage and play diagnosis.
6.1 ILB Riall Johnson 21/48 26/50 +5/+2
Switched him to SLB. Another auto-pick from the queue. Nice little bump in camp. Pleasantly surprised with the potential he shows!
7.1 RB Travis Minor 15/26 17/26 +2/0
Picked for solely for his KR potential (return guys are SCARCE in the GEFL these days !!) Not sure 32 red over 73 green in that category is going to make the team, though, especially with his dearth of other skills. (yeah that's right - I used "dearth" in a sentence! I is very smart!!)
So, Vick coming out strong is HUGE for us. The rest of the draft is probably pretty marginal. BUT...... we had some other nice surprises in Camp!!
2nd yr FS Nick Ferguson....BOOM! from 32/49 to 44/54 me likey !!
3rd yr TE Dan Campbell went from 37 to 45
WTF?! 6th yr LB Reggie Brown: 42/42 to 49/49 ! That'll work !!
And the icing on the cake: 8th year DE Tyoka Jackson: 44/44 to 55/55
The only significant drops: 4th yr RB Michael Pittman, -4 to 42/42; starting RCB Darrien Gordon, -5 to 37/37 (it is his 9th yr, though); and Jimmy Smith, -5 to 49/49 (he's in his 10th yr). A few others dropped 4 pts or more, but it was expected.
That's two +12, one +11, two + 7, with no major drops. Now, that's a good camp !
