In fact Kailan will have to make 36 picks over the next 3 years last time we counted, the problem is if you speak to Kailan off the record he’ll tell you he’s not so good at drafting which maybe a little bit of an issue for the Vikings.

So why did the Vikings break up one of the power houses of the NFC and maybe even the whole GEFL. Well if we look at the hard facts the Defense was getting old, the 4 Linebackers had an average of 9 years experience each and were very likely to take hits in camp. With Phillipi Sparks about to retire the secondary was about to look so bad the NFC West could pass on it and the Defensive Tackles are so old and battered they were having Alzheimer checks daily.

Even so the decision rested on the future of Terry Glenn, did the Vikes cash in on him why he still had a few years mileage left on the clock or did they re-sign him and hope somehow they could win with the rest of team aging around him. So was it to be one more try at the Playoffs with a team a fair bit weaker than last year, knowing that if they did that it would likely hurt them for years, maybe even a decade or was it a fire sale and get value now enabling them to rebuild hopefully within 2 or 3 years. For once I think Kailan thought with his head for once rather than his ass and did the right thing even though with all his years in FOF he has never had a fire sale anywhere near this big before. I think if you ask him he was getting a bit bored with things as well and rebuilding may just relight the fire in his belly to win again.

In the meantime the Vikes are likely to be losing a fair bit more than they are used to but we warned they will still be competitive in a lot of games and we’re they WILL not suck as much as some teams do.

I like the use of the word "bail" Wes, it goes rather well with the title of my post.
