The Past
It’s been a roller coaster of a ride in Minnesota over the last few years , in 2000 the Vikes ended up with a Superbowl victory with a 31-17 victory over the Bengals, at the start of the 2001 season they moved into there new state of the art Stadium. They went 15-1 in the 2002 regular season before losing to the Redskins 31-37 in the NFC Championship Game. Last year the team was broken up and stars like Brett Favre and the leagues premier receiver Terry Glenn were traded off to pastures new. That led to an 8-7-1 season that saw them miss out on the Playoffs in Week 17.
The Vikings had a fair number of Draft picks last year but things did not turn out that well in a poor draft apart from the odd pick and the trade which saw 1.16 go to the Showboats while the Vikings picked up 2.3 and the Showboats 1st in 2003. That first luckily for the Vikings became 1.3 in this years Draft and a quick trade with the Saints moving up from 1.3 to 1.2 ensured Andre Johnson or Carson Palmer was going to be a Viking.

The Future
General Manager Kailan explains “We only wanted Carson, yeah we know he is a raw and will need time but that bench press score of 17 was all we really needed to see to convince us he was the man to lead our Franchise for the next decade. Yes I know Carson is going to have to work on some things but he just looks a great all round Quarterback. He has a great understanding of the game for some one so young already knowing 11 pro formations. He’s also pretty accurate which was a big bonus for us but we realise he made need some work to avoid those interceptions but that is something we can work on. He has the right attitude which is going to help him learn and as long as he does not bust out in that all important first Training Camp hopefully we have a Franchise Quarterback in Minnesota. Before we broke up the team in 2002 we were 6 times defending NFC North Divisional Winners and we want our Title back, it may take us a year to catch up with the Bears but we will catch them up and surpass them……….busts permitting of course!

The College Years
Palmer arrived at the University of Southern California in 1998 and immediately competed for the starting quarterback job with Mike Van Raaphorst. Van Raaphorst won, but due to his ineffectiveness, Palmer was named the starter in the ninth game of the season, becoming only the second true freshman ever to start as quarterback for the Trojans.
Palmer completed 309 of 489 passes for 3942 yards and 33 touchdowns with only 10 interceptions during the 2002 season, finishing off at the Trojans with an impressive 38–17 victory over the University of Iowa in the Orange Bowl. In doing so Palmer became the Pac-10 Conference's all-time leader in passing yards (11,818), completions (927) and total offense (11,621), along with 72 career touchdown passes, a USC record.
