Buffalo Bills 1997 Draft

Going into this draft, we needed to mainly upgrade one unit on our team, and that was offensive line. It was going to take some work, as we didn't have a 1st or 3rd round pick in this draft. The 1st round pick was used to move up in last year's draft and grab Eric Moulds. The 3rd round pick was one of two used to stabilize our backfield, in picking up Chris Samuels last season. However, it does look like we drafted 2 immediate starters at LT and OG, and both should be a part of this team for the next decade. The game gave us the only A+ for the draft. That doesn't always mean anything, though.

1.4 - WR Eric Moulds - 41/64 +24/+1 65/65
We tried everything in our power to get to 1.2 & 1.3 in this draft, but no dice. So, we then made a move to get the 4th overall pick. We thought 5 WRs were locks to be all-pros, so being 4th wasn't much of a drop off. Moulds had an extremely slow start, but picked it up in his 7th game. He had 767 of his 955 yards in the last 10 games, and also finished the season with 13 TDs.

2.28 - LT Adam Meadows - 25/47
No shock to the rest of the league, as we picked an offensive lineman. If he holds his future rating, I will be pleased.
Combine: Adjusted rating - 5.7, 40 yard dash - 5.10, Sole - 40, Strength - 31, Agility - 7.90, Broad Jump - 7'9, Position specific - N/A, Developed - 40%

4.28 - DT Grady Jackson - 19/36
NT Jeff Wright is getting up there in age. We needed a capable replacement. Jackson looks a little raw, but hopefully a good camp and backup time at NT this season, and he will be ready start next year.
Combine: Adjusted rating - 4.7, 40 yard dash - 5.03, Sole - 23, Strength - 28, Agility - 7.74, Broad Jump - 8'5, Position specific - N/A, Developed - 30%

5.4 - OG Kerry Jenkins - 28/57
Another pick here to try and improve the offensive line. Looks very promising so far.
Combine: Adjusted rating - 4.2, 40 yard dash - 5.27, Sole - 11, Strength - 30, Agility - 7.83, Broad Jump - 7'7, Position specific - N/A, Developed - 23%

5.7 - K Richie Cunningham - 25/54
Another position we wanted an upgrade at. Not sure how good Cunningham will be, but he will get his shot.
Combine: Adjusted rating - 3.5, 40 yard dash - 5.12, Sole - 27, Strength - 10, Agility - 7.52, Broad Jump - 9'2, Position specific - N/A, Developed - 66%

5.29 - CB Eric Stokes- 15/23
Will struggle to make the team, but he has the fact that we only have 3 CBs on the roster in his favor.
Combine: Adjusted rating - 4.0, 40 yard dash - 4.56, Sole - 29, Strength - 11, Agility - 7.52, Broad Jump - 9'0, Position specific - 41, Developed - 57%

The last two players drafted won't even get signed, so I'm not going to bother to list them.

2.28 - LT Adam Meadows - 25/47 +5/0 to 30/47
Happy Adam held his bars. He's going to be a rotation tackle this season.

4.28 - DT Grady Jackson - 19/36 -3//-8 to 16/28
Extreme disappointment here. I keep missing on defensive linemen in this league, and it's starting to become depressing.

5.4 - OG Kerry Jenkins - 28/57 +5/-2 to 33/55
Extreme delight here. Honestly can't believe this guy was still around in round 5. He will start at LG immediately.

5.7 - K Richie Cunningham - 25/54 +3/ to 28/54
Inconsistent kicker, who had a nice camp, and will be the only one at his position in preseason.

5.29 - CB Eric Stokes- 15/23 +1/0 to 16/23
Strictly a depth pick. Will probably see very little time this season.

I really wanted Meadows, I think he will develop nicely for you. Maybe next year you can draft The Fonz or Potsie at punter.
